Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is one of the most visited and beautiful locations in Michigan. Miles and miles of sandstone cliffs towering 50-200 feet above the shore of Lake Superior.appear “painted” with a multitude of colors. As groundwater seeps through the cracks and crevices of the cliffs, it deposits streaks and layers of different colors, depending on the minerals in the water. Nature’s artwork! Continuous erosion from wind and water creates arches and caves that add to the beauty and uniqueness of the region.

Above a beautiful blue Lake Superior, variegated yarns create colorful cliffs complete with sea caves and arches. The forests and blue sky invite exploration in the rest of the park.
