This soft and squishy scarf has been designed to invoke the feel of the roaring Twenties. It is inspired by the architecture of the wonderful Art Deco buildings of the time and is named after The Midland, an Art Deco hotel in Morecambe, England.

Knit in brioche, this scarf will add a little of the glamour of the age to your outfit, all whilst keeping you warm and cosy.

The pattern was calls for DK yarn on 4mm needles, but you can use any weight of yarn that you want, and the recommend needles for that yarn. Bear in mind that lighter weight yarns will need more repeats to get a full length scarf, and heavier weights may produce a very wide scarf.

This is designed to be an easy introduction to brioche knitting. Every stitch is explained and the pattern has both written instructions and charts, so you can choose whichever works best for you. The scarf has a single colour cast on and selvage, so some of the trickier bits of brioche aren’t there.
