Midnight Margaritas
Midnight Margaritas is an overlay mosaic crochet pattern.
If you’ve ever watched Practical Magic, you’ll know exactly where this came from!
I absolutely love the film, and the Midnight Margaritas scene is one of the best bits. So obviously, it had to become a mosaic crochet wall hanging (or cushion cover)
The pattern PDF has two easy-to-read charts and corresponding written instructions for both left and right-handers.
Two PDFs are available - one using US terms and one using UK terms.
If using DK weight yarn, you will need approximately:
• Colour A – 280 metres / 305 yards / 77g
• Colour B – 180 metres / 200 yards / 61g
• Double border – 235 metres / 257 yards / 81g
These quantities are based on the yarns used for my sample. You may need more or less depending on your chosen yarn, tension and border.
The main crocheted piece measures approximately 45cm wide x 46cm tall, before adding the border.
You can use any yarn and corresponding hook you like. Just remember that a slightly tighter tension and two colours with a good contrast generally work best for mosaic crochet.
Changing your yarn weight and hook size will change the finished size and the amount of yarn required.
This pattern uses the overlay mosaic crochet technique, with one colour worked per row.
The PDF includes:
• Full chart with Xs showing the mosaic double crochet stitches
• Full row-by-row written instructions
• Stitch and technique information
• Yarn quantities and finished size
• Instructions for adding the border
• US and UK terminology versions
I created this design using my free small mosaic alphabet. If you’d like to customise your own mosaic crochet sayings, you can download the alphabet for free on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/smaller-mosaic-a...
