Mill Mountain is the landmark mountain for Roanoke, Virginia, near where I live. This hat is my landmark design for cables and twists, which I adore, and which are featured in this knit beanie. They match exactly the Mill Mountain Mitt pattern.

You’ll work in the round, from the bottom up. After working the ribbing on the brim, you’ll begin knitting beautiful texture into the hat, featuring cables and twists that develop seamlessly from the ribbing. The cables and twists continue all the way to the very last decreases on the crown, which is topped with a pom-pom. The hat is designed for an average teen or adult woman’s head circumference. It’s a snug beanie with very little slouch.
