The MINELLY BERET pattern is best understood as a beginner‑friendly, brioche‑inspired knit that uses simple stitch combinations to create a warm, stretchy, textured fabric.

For my favorite season a red beret is a perfect last minute gift, either to your best friend or even better to yourself.

It’s a knit-purl combination that creates slanting columns in both directions - almost like a brioche pattern, to create a fabric that mimic brioche’s signature depth and squish without requiring full brioche techniques.

The pattern is easy enough for beginners and young knitters. Use a couple of favorite colors together to make it your very personal beanie or go for a monochrome version.

The beret is worked in the round from the bottom up, you start with a small hem in stockinette stitch. Crown decreases are worked in pattern to maintain texture.

Directions are given in two sizes, and by changing needle size and gauge you can knit a smaller or larger size too.
