Mini Peacock/Turkey
Crochet this mini peacock or turkey that will fit in the palm of your hand! At about 3 inches tall in worsted-weight yarn, this bird packs a lot of personality in a small package. The tail stands on its own through unique shaping, so that your little peacock or turkey stands proud with its tail displayed with no additional support or sewing.
This design uses scrap amounts of yarn and involves no sewing for assembly. The turkey pattern follows the peacock pattern for a majority of the time with differences clearly marked, so you can create both with one pattern. The beak and the gobbler (for the turkey) are worked in through crochet stitches, and the tail is worked from unused stitches, so no need to sew on separate pieces!
This pattern is geared towards the advanced beginner and has video support for the more difficult rounds. It incorporates bobble stitches, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, puff stitch, and spike stitch, all of which are covered in the video tutorial.
The optional eye highlights are worked into the face while crocheting and are finished off with two pulls of the needle and a single knot. This pattern includes a video tutorial that walks you through the more difficult parts of the pattern and a 9-page PDF with clear photos.
Guidance on how to crochet this piece in chenille yarn is provided as well.
