Knitting has always been a medium for the resistance–from Madame DeFarge in “A Tale of Two Cities” to knitting for the troops during the wars to the infamous “pussy hats” of 2017.

This pattern is inspired by a recent protester in Minneapolis wearing a pink hat with “uff da” on it. Anyone of Scandinavian heritage in the upper Midwest is familiar with this saying. And in true mild-mannered, yet determined Scandinavian style, profanities are bleeped out.

The hat is knit in the traditional Selbuvotter manner. Hold the contrasting color in your left hand to accentuate the stitches. This project can be knit in as few as two colors, but you can use multiple colors to use up those leftovers in the basket.

Keep up the fight!
