This is a free pattern for a VERY comfortable, loose fitting hoodie tunic with a after-thought Kangaroo pocket. It has optional cables down the center of the sleeves.

I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn Stonewash - in the Mint Lace color-way for this, but any aran weight yarn should work fine, provided it produces a similar gauge.

Most of the sweater is simple stockinette stitch, but there are a few more advanced techniques such as utilizing lifelines to pick up stitches, and mattress stitching on the hood (which requires stitching rows to rows, stitches to stitches, and slanted stitches). There is nothing too difficult though!

This sweater pattern is written for a bulky gauge machine (9mm) such as the Brother KH-260 (which I used to knit it with). It’s not too difficult though to resize, if you use the gauge measurements to do the conversions.

This has a “classic fit” cut, which means that although it does have some ease, it is not oversized by any means. I wear a Ladies Large size normally, and this fits me with a little extra roominess. My mannequin has a bust that is WELL over 38” and it fits on her too. She is 6 feet tall, so the pictures should give some indication of how much “play” there is in the sweater sizing. The sweater is a little bit longer on me than it is on her, because I am only 5’5” tall.

The pocket and cables on the sleeves are optional. This sweater would be fabulous without them as well.

This pattern has not been tested by anyone but me (yet), so please, if you knit it and find mistakes, let me know so I can fix the pattern for future knitters.

As with all of my patterns, I provide them free of charge to encourage creativity and sharing among the knitting community. I ask only 2 simple things in return:

Please pay it forward by doing something extra nice for your favorite animal today.
