I designed this pattern as the first of a group ( I hope to get a few more completed soon) of designs inspired by the ever so popular show Downton Abbey with such great stories and characters.
This one is named for Miss Sybbie who has gone off to America, Boston to be exact and I thought a hat with some special stitch patterns (shamrocks, bobbles) related to her Irish roots would be fitting for her to have. It is knit on a smaller needle than recommended to keep it a bit better at blocking the wind whether in Boston or Yorkshire.
Knit in the round from the brim up, small stitch patterns are worked in sections of knits and purls making it easy to follow along with each pattern used. An eyelet pattern forms the shamrocks, see the pics for the details of the stitch patterns.
Instructions for 2 sizes are included but it is a very stretchy hat, so will fit smaller and larger heads, either slouched a bit or pulled down a bit.
I made 2 hats, one in each size from one skein of Cascade and have plenty left over, so no more than 100 yds is needed
This is a fun, fairly quick knit with some new takes on stitch patterns.
Hope you give it a try and please post your projects
