After finishing socks, shawls, or other projects, you almost always wind up with a little ball of yarn left over. Use that leftover sock/ fingering yarn to make this simple but fun hat. With one main color overlying the contrast stripes, you can create a gentle color gradient or get wild with strong stripes of contrast color. You only need to be able to knit and purl in order to knit this fun hat, so it’s a great project even for a beginner, and a quick knit for someone more experienced.

Hat is knit in the round from the bottom up, starting with a seeded rib pattern and moving to a broken seed stitch body. Pattern is written and not charted.
