This minimal knits | DESIGNED seamless baby cardigan is made in 4ply/fingering yarn.

Working top down, starting with a mostly knit 1 purl 1 rib neckband, the button bands are partly rib too, and the hem and cuffs include rib as well, but almost all the rest is stocking stitch. We do some easy short rows to elevate the back of the neck.

More than half way down the body, we do 20 rows including some purls on the front rows and some knits on the back rows to create the hearts. When the knitting is finished, I need to use the iron to steam the body and flatten the button edges and the stitches around the edges of the hearts, and then weave in the ends and sew on the buttons.

Depending on your yarn colour and button choices it will be suitable for a baby girl or boy.

The pictured cardigan was made using Bendigo Woollen Mills 4ply/Fingering Sock Yarn (75% wool, 24% nylon) in the colour Beach Daze.
