The hat is worked top-down (starting at the crown) in all-over 1×1 rib using the Magic Loop method. The upper half is shaped with increases, then the body continues in 1×1 rib without further increases. Two brim folds are worked after a specified length.

32 sts × 27 rnds = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in) in rib stitch (k1, p1), after washing and blocking.
Do not stretch the swatch while blocking. The ribbing should look fairly snug so that the purl stitches are not visible.
