Moonlit Oak Cowl is a soft and warm, knit in the round, fully lined fair isle cowl with oak leaf and oak tree motifs. You will need two skeins of dk weight yarn, in contrasting colours. I used Morning Bright Holistic Merino DK, in Moonlit and Oak colourways for a very subtle look. The more contrast you have between colours the better the oak tree will stand out in the moonlight. There are charts for a bare branched oak, and a fully leafed out oak tree as well. Choose either one, or both trees to adorn your cowl.

A provisional cast on allows you to easily join the start and finish rounds of the cowl on the inside (skin side). Beginners may choose to use a regular cast on and bind off, and seam the ends together. Either method works well.

My magnificent knitting friend Periwinklecosmos is the inspiration for my first Fair Isle pattern. Always knit with people you love - they rub off on you!

Finished Size: 7 inches tall x 28 inches circumference

Materials: 2 skeins of DK approx. 220 metres each in contrasting colours. Solid and tonal yarns work best. Some variegated colourways will work, especially those with very short colour runs. Be sure that there is sufficient contrast between colourways, and no colour is repeated in both yarns.
