Moorland mittens/ fingerless mitts are knitted from the cuff up on circular needles using magic loop method, however, you can use DPNs if you are more comfortable with them.
The finished measurements of the mittens are approximately 9 cm / 3.5 inches width in the palm, 27 cm/ 10.75 inches total length together with the cuff for full size mittens and 20 cm/ 8 inches for fingerless. These mittens will fit an average woman’s hand of 17 - 20 cm / 6.75 - 8 inches in diameter.

Yarn and Yardage:
Approx 140 - 160 m / 153 - 175 yards of worsted weight yarn for full-sized mittens and 120 - 140 m / 131 - 153 yards for fingerless mittens
Samples have been knitted in:
Full-size mittens in Nutiden Yarn held double, col. Ragad (I used 65 grams of Nutiden yarn)
Fingerless mitts in Nutiden Yarn held double, col. Fustinna (I used 40 grams of Nutiden yarn)

Gauge:
18 sts / 25 rnds per 10 cm / 4 inches in reverse stockinette in the round on size B needles

Needles:
Size A - 3 mm (US 2.5)
Size B - 4 mm (US 6)

Other materials:
Crochet hook, cable needle (optional), tapestry needle, waste yarn, measuring tape, 2 stitch markers (including a unique BORM marker), row counter, scissors
