Yarn Availablity
It’s September 2025, and Kelbourne Woolens is currently running low on the yarn used in this cardigan, Lucky Tweed. A new shipment is expected in a month or so, but in the meantime, if they don’t, have a color you love there are some great Kelbourne substitutions you might consider.
-
Cricket is the same fiber and made by the same mill as Lucky Tweed. Work two strands held together to make a yarn the same weight as Lucky Tweed.
-
Hold Cricket and Harmony together for a soft and fluffier alternative. I swatched it and loved it.
-
Germantown is a great substitution also. The colors are solid, not tweedy, so the look is a little different, but the cabled and textured stitches look amazing.
I’m an affiliate partner with Kelbourne Woolens, so if you order through my link I earn a small commission (with no extra charge to you). LINK
Construction
The cardigan is knit from the top down, starting with the back shoulders. The shoulders are shaped with short rows. The Right and Left Fronts are picked up along the cast on edge of the Back shoulders, then knit downward with should row shoulders and V-neck shaping worked at the same time, all shown on the charts. The Fronts and Back are then joined in one piece and worked downward to the hem. Sleeves are picked up at each armhole and worked down to the cuff, in the round.
