Have your toddlers grown? Do you have big kids running around needing more mittens?

This is my “big kid” version of quick and easy mittens, to fit children 4-7 years of age. Knit in soft Malabrigo Yarn, your big kid will be sure to love them. They feature an easy to execute thumb gusset and are identical to fit on either hand, making them convenient for big kids to put on by themselves.

Mine measure 8.5 inches from bottom of cuff to tip. You can adjust the length as needed by knitting more or less plain rounds before or after the thumb gusset. You can adjust the width for a bigger kid by adding stitches in increments of 4

Yarn: Malabrigo Yarns Merino Worsted or any worsted weight 100% wool, 40-45 grams

Needles: size 4 US DPNs (3.5 mm), or size to give you correct gauge and a nice, firm fabric

Gauge: 6 stitches/inch

More important than achieving the proper number of stitches/inch is achieving a nice, firm fabric
with the yarn you are choosing to use. I recommend going down approximately two to three needle sizes from the size you would normally knit worsted weight yarn with.

Notions: scrap yarn, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker

All my patterns have been test knit and professionally tech edited for your enjoyment and ease of use.
