Important note: If you haven’t already purchased Morse Stitch Decoded you will need to do so in order to knit this cardigan. Morse Stitch Decoded comes with three complementary patterns. Two are for cowls - Spy Ring and The Circus - the other is for this baby blanket. The net proceeds from the sales of Decoded will be donated to the charity Freedom From Torture. Purchasing Morselle + Morse Stitch Decoded entitles you to this pattern for free.

Morselle is an asymmetric cardigan with ¾ length sleeves that is dressy enough for the smart occasions in a little girl’s life but also suitable for everyday wear. The one button fastening makes it quick to put on and take off whilst the asymmetric design looks stylish on older girls - and on toddlers has the practical advantage of accommodating their nappy (and tummy!)

Four designs in one

Morselle’s yoke is knitted in morse stitch, a textured stitch that is attractive on both sides. You choose which side you want to use on the yoke and borders … and you choose whether you want to knit the body and sleeves in garter stitch or stocking stitch.

Sizes

One set of instructions produces final chest sizes of 54 - 63 cms (21” - 25”) depending on whether you use sport weight, DK or heavy DK yarn.

Yardage

21” = 375m of sport weight yarn; 22” = 357m of DK yarn; 23” = 415m of DK yarn; 24” = 444m of DK/ light worsted yarn; 25” = 452m of DK /light worsted yarn.

Also required: a set of double-pointed needles for the sleeves (of the same size as that used for the body); stitch markers; three lengths of scrap yarn; a tapestry needle for weaving-in ends; a crochet hook for use with the provisional cast-on (optional); one button.
