This pattern is written in 6 sizes ranging from baby to large adult. It is knit in the round and is suitable for all skill levels. The pattern includes clear step-by-step written instructions.

Motorworks is an ideal hat for the whole family. It features alternating vertical stripes that add texture and visual interest, as well as a classic twisted rib that helps keep it snug and warm against cold ears. I designed it for my son JP, who requested a hat to wear while attending a Detroit Lions football game.

Detroit is known as the Motor City and is historically linked to the auto industry. In the early 1900’s the city was the center of the automotive industry in the United States and was home to the first paved roads in the country. Its legacy of innovation and production continues to this day.

The Lions won that game, and if you know anything about the Lion’s football team, you will understand that it’s a pretty big deal. Must have been the hat.

Additional notes:
One of my testers, who hates to purl, made this hat inside out by reversing the instructions. They knit the purl stitches and purled the knit stitches. This is a great alternative for all the non-purlers out there.
