The Mountains to the Sea Trail stretches 1175 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Along the trail, you could see mountain vistas, rolling Piedmont farms, picture postcard colonial towns, weathered tobacco barns, old textile villages, country churches, rushing mountain streams, coastal swamps, hardwood and pine forests, lighthouses, sand dunes, and miles of seashore. These socks remind me of the mountains, the trees, and rolling waves of the seashore.

These socks are knit 2 at a time from the toe up, with your choice of toes and heels. I give directions for a Shadow Wrap short row heel, but you can use whatever heel you prefer. This can be done as a magic loop or with 2 circular needles.
