This is a pattern for a traditionally styled Shetland Shawl (wrap), however, it is knitted with fingering weight yarn, making it a much faster and easier project. (There is also a “purl back” row for all the stitches, which also simplifies the knitting.) The wide lace border is knitted on after the center panel has been completed. There are three distinct lace stitches contained within this pattern, all of which blend together nicely and will certainly keep you from getting bored while knitting it.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a good working knowledge of lace knitting).

The pattern for the stitches are both charted and written out line by line.

The wrap was expertly pattern tested by Barbara Robertson, who can be contacted at: Barb. Robertson@ gmail.com, and who is known on Ravelry as NanaKnits4Us. The yarn used in the sample was Fiesta’s Baby Boom, Colors of the Southwest, in colorway, “Talking God.”
