I have also found that you don’t need a lot of yarn to make most Amigurumi dolls, especially if you are using 4 ply yarn. You usually only need up to 1 ball for the basic doll and only small amounts for the rest eg dress, top, shoes etc - other than the hair, depending on what sort of hair style you want. So it’s a great way, to use up spare yarn.
I used 4 ply yarn for doll and clothes 3.00 mm crochet hook Depending on the size hook you use and the size of yarn, your finished product may measure differently.

Abbreviations in US terms
MR =Magic ring
CH = chain
ST = stitch
SC – single crochet
INC= increase (2 SC in one ST}
DEC = decrease ( 2 SC together}
SLST = slip stitch
DC = double crochet
DCINC = 2 DC in one ST
HDC = half double crochet
( ) = repeat instructions in brackets as per number of times indicated
