my clematis sweater
“My clematis” sweater is a slouchy sweater featuring vines in between two simple cables. While the sleeves can be cinched to create balloon/mutton sleeves, you may opt for a looser cuff if desired. Ribbing can be added to the collar to create a turtleneck or at the waist to create a full-length sweater (it’s up to you!).
The name “clematis” was suggested by Sen @sillystitching, and I was immediately drawn to the name because of Alien Stage, a series on YT that I absolutely love (it’s like a singing survival show… literally). I decided to name the sweater “my clematis” after one of my favorite songs from the series. The clematis is a climbing flower with vines, much like the ones featured on the sweater. What makes it special though, is its resilience to bloom anywhere. °❀.࿔
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A PATTERN PDF; NOT A PHYSICAL ITEM.
The pattern features:
- A customizable design (e.g., tight vs loose cuff, no waist ribbing or waist ribbing with split hem or non-split hem, collar ribbing, etc.)
- Written instructions with accompanying photos & videos for almost all techniques mentioned
- Stitch charts to accompany the written pattern made by Siiri (@siiristitches)
- A tester lookbook so you can figure out what type of sweater you’d like to make c:
Additional notes:
- Language: English
- Terminology: US
- Gauge: 12 sts x 14 rows = 4 x 4” (10 x 10cm)
- Level of difficulty: VERY confident beginners and up. Although I believe this could be doable as long as you are comfortable with basic knitting techniques and terminology, the construction of this sweater is not standard. It also includes some made-to-measure instructions.
- Skills: Basic knit stitches (knit, purl) and techniques (seaming, increasing/decreasing, cables, picking up stitches).
- The pattern includes graded instructions for the cable/vine part. However, the rest of the pattern is made-to-measure to ensure that the garment will fit you how you’d like. Therefore, please be aware that there will not be exact stitch/row counts throughout the majority of the pattern.
Materials:
- Recommended yarn: Bulky/chunky weight (size 5) yarn. I used 675g of Tahki Yarns Superwash Merino Bulky in the color Plum (19).
- Estimated yarn amounts (also go to tester lookbook on page 28 to better gauge amount of yarn needed): 573 (624) 675 (729) 780 g/m.
- Recommended needle size: 8mm (or any needle that matches the gauge with your tension). Circular needles are required for the body of the sweater but you may opt for DPN for the cuffs.
- Tape measure, scissors, yarn needle & stitch markers.
