These fingerless mitts are the perfect project to learn knitting in the round. Whether you are ready to master magic loop or want to use DPNs for the first time, these are an easy introduction. Made from bulky yarn, and fitting a wide range of wrist sizes these mitts will keep your hands warm and fingers free!

Gauge
16 stitches x 24 rows per 10cm/4” square in stocking stitch in the round

Needles
Suggested needle size only. You should use a needle size that allows you to obtain suggested gauge or your preferred fabric. In this sample, I have used a needle size that is one size below the size recommended by the yarn to ensure a firm fabric – perfect for mittens so the icy wind doesn’t get through!
5mm needles (choose needles appropriate for small circumference knitting eg. 80-100cm circular needle for magic-loop method, double pointed needles, 30cm circular needles or two circular needle-method)

Modifications
There will be a little yarn left over so you can make them longer either at the wrist by continuing the ribbing for more than the suggested 2” or 5cm or after the thumb shaping, knit more plain rounds, if you are fitting a particularly large hand.
