This simple stranded colourwork hat is worked with 3 contrast colours against one background colour. The resemblance to bees in the colourwork pattern inspired the original name of the hat To Bee or Not to Beanie. For simplicity was renamed the Hamlet Hat. It was designed for my colourwork class.

Finished Size:
53cm (21”) circumference to fit small/medium adult

Yarn:
200m of 10ply/worsted weight yarn for main colour (this includes enough for an optional pom pom)
Contrast colour 1 & 2: 10m 10ply/worsted weight yarn
Contrast colour 3: 5m 10ply/worsted weight yarn

Sample used:
The Fibre Company Cumbria Worsted, 100g/216m/236y (60% merino wool, 30% masham wool and 10% mohair) and
The Company Cumbria Worsted Minis, 10g/21m/23y

Colours used:
MC: Blencathra
CC1: Eden Valley
CC2: Yew Tree
CC3: Buttermere

Needles and notions:
3.75mm 40cm circular needles for ribbing
4.50mm 40cm and 80cm circular needles for stocking stitch and colourwork
Wool needle
6 stitch markers including one unique one for BOR
Pom Pom maker (optional)

Gauge
20 stitches to 10cm/4” in stocking stitch using larger needle
21 stitches to 10cm/4” in colourwork pattern using larger needle
