Easy as a summer breeze, the Ombelle Top features elbow-length sleeves, a soft A-line shape, and a touch of lace at the hem—the perfect airy top for slow summer days and golden-hour memories.

CONSTRUCTION:

This top is worked seamlessly in the round from the top down, with some short row shaping below the neck band. At underarm level, the sleeves are separated from the body, and worked in the round to the suggested mid-length (below elbow). The body is also worked in the round, with a gentle, slightly cropped A-silhouette, and features an easy lace motif at the bottom, suitable for beginner lace knitters. The lace motif is both charted and written out, to accommodate personal preference.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Casting on, knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, picking up stitches, short rows (detailed instructions and links to tutorials provided), following an easy lace pattern (both written instructions and a chart are provided) binding off, blocking.

SIZES:

XS (S, M, L // XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)
To fit chest: 30 (34, 38, 42 // 46, 50, 54, 58, 62) inches or 76 (86.5, 96.5, 106.5 // 117, 127, 137, 147.5, 157.5) cm
Garment chest at underarms: 32.75 (36, 40, 44 // 48, 52, 56, 60, 64) inches or 83 (90, 100, 110 // 120, 130, 140, 150, 160) cm

In general it’s best to go by the recipient’s actual chest measurement instead of the size label. You can also choose a size according to how much ease you’d like the garment to have. The garment is designed to be worn with approximately 2 inches or 4.5 cm positive ease at the chest.
Tip: Compare the garment measurements to a favorite sweater’s measurements and choose a size accordingly.

YARN REQUIREMENTS:

Approximately 800 (850, 900, 950 // 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400) yards or 731 (777, 823, 869) // 914, 1006, 1097, 1189, 1280) meters of dk (8 ply) weight yarn with good drape.

The model in the photograph above has a 38 inch or 96.5 cm chest and wears a size M. The sample is knit in Sandnes Garn Line {53% Cotton, 33% Rayon, 14% Linen / Flax} (colorway 6080 - Note: the color is black although it looks blueish on the pattern photos)
