Needles

• 4mm (US 6) circular needles on 40cm (16in) cable for the ribbing
• 5mm (US 8) circular needles on 40cm (16in) cable for the main body of the hat, and DPNs for the crown

Gauge

• 24 sts and 30 rows measures 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in) over 2x2 rib, using smaller needles, after blocking
• 24 sts and 25 rows measure 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in) over pattern, using larger needles, after blocking
• Swatch to determine the needle size that achieves the correct gauge

Construction

• The hat is worked from the bottom up in the round.
• The brim is knit in 2x2 rib and folded over for extra warmth. You can choose to make it narrow by choosing not to work the fold.
• The body of the hat features a cabled panel. Integrated decreases help the pattern flow seamlessly into the crown.
