My grandson (aged 4) asked me to knit him a pair of socks, so I thought it would be cool if we each had a matching pair ….Nana and me socks!

These socks are knit cuff down, with a sweet easy to follow pattern down the leg, resembling a sweater or cardigan with a little button band. The pattern continues down the front of the foot.

The heel is a garter stitch short row, using wrap and turns and I have included a video tutorial in the pattern PDF. I wanted the heel to resemble the old grandad elbow patch sweaters.

The toe is a regular toe but also knit in garter stitch to complete the cute design. Heel and toe were done in co-ordinating yarn.

I used 2.25mm needles and the magic loop method, but these socks can also be knit on DPN’s.

The pattern can be used with self striping yarn too, instructions on how to do this are in the pattern PDF.

I hope you enjoy knitting them as much as I did.
