The Natural Beauty socks were first designed in 2020 to accompany the launch of a new yarn, the Romney Pure sock; a nylon-free yarn using 100% Romney wool. This beautifully strong and woolly wool is sourced from an eco-farm in south-east England and worsted spun just minutes from the flock. Then, in 2023 the pattern was graded to add two extra sizes.

The pattern is knitted with circular needles using the magic loop method. DPNs can be substituted. The socks begin at the toe and worked in the round, giving you a seamless look from start to finish. Delicate cables on either side of the lace pattern are separated with purl stitches to frame the lace panel through the centre. Instructions are given for a gusset and heel flap; the heel flap uses a simple (knit 1, slip 1) stitch pattern for extra durability. Another set of cables is introduced at the beginning of the leg to add further interest to the sides of your sock. In your final round, the last stitch is purled and marks the beginning of the cuff round in order for 2 knit stitches to align centre with the lace pattern in the front. A 2x2 rib with a twisted knit stitch is used in the cuff, though any style of cuff can be used, but be mindful of where your stitches fall in relation to the pattern.
