Spring in all her splendor was my driving force behind this blanket design. Seemingly overnight tender new chartreuse leaves bud out on the trees, beautifully vibrant flowers bloom from the ground, and new life explodes, quickly changing the drab and dreary landscape of winter to one of bright and colorful hues. It feels like a big sigh of relief and new beginnings as nature finally awakens after her long winter’s sleep. So, I was inspired to try to capture a fraction of all this lovely color and flora and turn it into blanket form.

This pattern creates a plush, solid fabric with beautiful drape, perfect for early spring when there’s still a chill in the air. And while it is loaded with lots of color changes, an envelope border keeps you from having to weave in all those ends. They all get trimmed and tied into knots, and are tucked in between the two-sided border. Those sides then get stitched together at the end of the project, keeping all those pesky ends hidden away. If you aren’t a fan of envelope borders, there is an option for a regular border included in the pattern as well.

I wouldn’t classify this pattern as one for new beginners, but if you have a little crochet experience under your belt and are comfortable with basic stitches you’ll probably be fine with it. A link to a full video tutorial is included in the pattern in case you’re a visual learner, or if you just need a little extra help or clarification along the way.

The pattern is for one size only, but I include the stitch multiple so that if you want to adjust for a different size you can do that.
