Nazare

Nazare is actually a set of 3 different items: a shawl, cowl and a scarf. All are included with purchase. The project starts small, with just one ‘wave’ on an I-Cord edge. Then with each new row, the I-Cord extends and the rows of waves get longer. What this affords you are many possibilities! It can be done in one yarn or alternating rows in additional yarns, in whatever stripe sequence you wish (this could be a stash-buster)! The I-Cord edge can be one color or striped with 2 colors or more. You can knit until you decide it’s done (or your yarn runs out).

The hem edge on the shawl and cowl can be blocked to accentuate the points or you can add beads at the tips. The cowl is actually a kerchief with a button system that you can take advantage of the intentional holes to secure it. It can be worn loosely and draped, snug like a turtleneck, or worn as a headscarf.

The intentional holes can also be utilized in the shawl and scarf to wear them in unique ways. For instance, both can be worn draped to the front and closed with pairs of linked buttons or even a hair barrette! Details are included in the pattern.
