I see knitting as an act of love. Sometimes it is meant for someone else as a gesture of warmth and care. At other times, the steady rhythm of knitting helps me find a way back to myself. It is how I gather the scattered pieces of a long day and bring them back into place.
Knitting can be both given and kept, holding space for generosity as much as for healing. This shawl grew out of that duality. Whether it eventually wraps around your own shoulders or someone else’s, may it carry with it a message of love.

Neha means love, affection or tenderness in Hindi / Sanskrit. Variations of this word can be found in other Indian languages to indicate altruism, compassion.

PATTERN NOTES

♡ Neha is a fingering weight shawl worked sideways and shaped into a crescent using short row wedges.

♡ The body of the shawl has knit-purl texture, while a solid mesh lace motif is repeated along the border.

♡ The shawl is worked in 3 sections. Section A and Section C are shaped with 3 short row wedges each. Section B is worked straight without any shaping.

♡ The three wedges in Section A are worked using short rows that decrease in length; wedges in Section C use short rows that increase in length.

♡ You can easily adjust the body of the shawl to use the yarn you have. Tips are included in the pattern.
