As much as I love all the wonderful creatures inhabiting the worlds’ dry lands, I am even more fascinated by Earths’ magical watery worlds and their colorful inhabitants. Here is a way to dive into the enchanting and spectacularly splashy underwater world, without even getting your feet wet!

The clownfish and the regal tang rose to fame, of course, through their animated counterparts in ‘Finding Nemo’ and ‘Finding Dory’. The clownfishs’ residence of choice is a magnificent sea anemone, with which it has a win-win-relationship: the clownfish keeps the anemone healthy by preening and primping it and the anemone’s flapping and fluttering tentacles protect the clownfish! The regal tang is another eye-catching tropical fish, that can be found cruising over reef tops, grazing away on algae in the tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

This knitted bunch makes a great playset: it consists of Nemo, Dory and the anemone.
It is an easy project, that asks for some knitting flat and in the round, minor intarsia colorwork and picking up stitches (optional).
It was knitted on 2.25 mm double pointed needles (UK 13, US 1). Only small amounts of yarns are needed, so these reef fish make a great project to use up any scraps (of any gauge) you have lying around.
These reef fish were made in Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine and measure about 9 cm from head to tail.

Just keep knitting…. just keep knitting ;-)
