New Bloom Sweater is a circular yoke colorwork sweater that is knit seamlessly in the round from the top down. The sweater features a double-folded ribbed collar and a colorwork yoke with circular increases. The yoke is shaped with increases evenly distributed across the round, where the total number of stitches to be increases as well as the interval for the increases is given, so no additional math is required. For the main chart between the two leaf borders, you can choose between nine different charts all included in this pattern: flower, bow, bell, hearts, two different stars, and three different snowflakes. Note that the colorwork charts do have long floats in between contrast color stitches. After the colorwork is completed, German Short Rows are worked to raise the back of the neckline, and raglan increases are worked before the sweater is split for sleeves. Then, the body is worked in the round without decreases until the desired length, and the sleeves are knit in the round with decreases. Both body and sleeves end in ribbing and tubular Italian bind-off.

Yarn estimates are approximate and depend on your gauge and preferred body and sleeve length. The above yardages are calculated for a 14/10 stitch gauge, a body length of 55cm, and a sleeve length of 45cm. If you knit at a tighter gauge (15-16/10) or want to knit the sweater longer, you might need more yarn. If you knit at a looser gauge (12-13/10) or want to knit the sweater shorter, you might need less yarn.

Note on Choosing a Size
If you are in between sizes, you can also consider your shoulder circumference at the point where the main flower motif sits (see pictures above). This additional measurement may be helpful when deciding between Sizes 3 and 4, Sizes 6 and 7, or Sizes 8 and 9. The finished shoulder circumference is 100 (100) 100 (114) 114 (114) 129 (129) 143 (143)cm when working at a 14/10 gauge – please see the appendix for other gauges.
