These sweet little folk are inspired by the beautiful valley of my childhood in the South Island of New Zealand and by Waldorf peg dolls. In the spring of 2025, I decided to make them some Backyard Hobbits Holes! Now whenever I am sad, I just think of them on my backyard hill and a smile instantly appears.

Supplies needed: Scrap yarn, set of dpns, 12mm wooden bead for head and pipe cleaner.

I became deeply absorbed while knitting these two little charmers! He’s a mature fern man, returning from roots long established in earth. Very rustic in this yarn, a good yarn for him!
