Nivem is a hat with elongated crossed stitches and nupps. Knit with a worsted weight yarn, it is the perfect warm partner for cold weather.

Knit in the round, the pattern is worked in staggered row, decorated with tiny nupps.

This nupps are not compulsory, you can replace them with beads for a more feminine version, or remove them completely for a mixed version.

Sizes

45/49, 49/53, 53/57, 57/61, 61/65 cm of head circumference (where the ribs edge goes usually).

Material

Yarn : worsted weight.

Between 80 and 160 meters, according to the fact you make nupps or not (they are kind of yarn eaters !).

For information, the sample is a size 57-61 (head circumference of 58 cm), I used about 125 m of Worsted Mérinos d’Arles, from A pleines mains, (237 m / 95g - 100% mérinos d’Arles).
Be aware, this pattern uses a rustic yarn, that kind of yarn that itches first and soften up after washing.
If you use a more extensible yarn, you will probably need more yardage.

Circular needles, 3,25 mm for ribs and 4 mm for the rest of the hat. (or any size needed to obtain gauge with the bigger size).
Markers and cable needle if necessary.

Gauge

According to pattern (see p.4), with 4 mm : 18 st x 24 r : 10 x 10 cm in the round.

In ribs 1/1 (blocked but not stretched) with 3,25 mm : 21 st x 30 r : 10 x 10 cm in the round.

Both gauge are given after washing and blocking, and dry.
It is important to respect the gauge if you want to obtain the right size.

FRANCAIS

Nivem est un bonnet à base de mailles allongées croisées et de nopes. Tricoté avec un fil worsted rustique et uni, il est le compagnon parfait par temps froid.
Il se commence par le bord côtes et se termine par la couronne. Tricoté en rond, il met en avant une alternance du motif en quinconce, décorée de nopes tricotées sur un rang. Ces nopes sont facultatives et peuvent être remplacées par des perles pour une version plus girly, ou bien retirées pour une version plus mixte.

Tailles

45/49, 49/53, 53/57, 57/61, 61/65 cm de circonférence tête (mesure au niveau de la zone où passe le bord côtes d’habitude).

Matériel :

Fil : épaisseur worsted .

Entre 80 et 160 m, selon qu’on fasse avec ou sans les nopes (gourmandes en métrage).

Pour information, pour une taille 57-61 (tour de tête de 58 cm), j’ai utilisé environ 125 m de Worsted Mérinos d’Arles, de A pleines mains, (237 m / 95g - 100% mérinos d’Arles).

Attention, ce modèle est prévu pour un fil rustique qui gonfle après le premier lavage.
Si vous utilisez un fil plus extensible, vous utiliserez probablement plus de métrage.

Aiguilles circulaires 3,25 mm pour les côtes, 4 mm pour le reste du bonnet. (ou la taille nécessaire pour obtenir l’échantillon avec la plus grande taille).
Quelques marqueurs et une aiguille à torsades si nécessaire.

Échantillon

Selon le motif : 18 m x 24 Rang : 10 x 10 cm en rond.
En côtes 1/1 (bloquées mais pas étirées à fond) en 3,25 mm : 21 m x 30 Rang : 10 x 10 cm en rond.

Les deux échantillons sont donnés après blocage, sec.
Il est très important de respecter cet échantillon si vous voulez obtenir la même taille que le modèle original.
