No Sew Teddy Bear is an easy to follow novice pattern for making amigurumi, the pattern takes you through some of the basic shaping and each piece is worked in the round. It’s key features are that the bear can be completed in just one ball of Stylecraft Special Chunky yarn and is a no sew project meaning all the limbs and body are worked together using crochet stitches and the head is attached to the body using a safety joint, this allows the head to rotate round independantly.
Additionally you will need a small amount of cotton yarn for the hearts on the soles of the feet and to stitch the nose. The pattern used double crochet (UK) or single crochet (US) throughout.
You will also use the magic ring/circle, invisible decreases, increases, working in the back loop only, eye indentation and crocheting limbs onto the body. There are some ‘how to’ guides at the end of the pattern to help you along.
It is recommends to use 2 hook sizes smaller than the yarn calls for, this allows much tighter stitches which helps with shaping and proportion.
The pattern works in continuing rounds so you will need a stitch marker to place in your new row when you start.
pattern contains both UK and US
abbreviations.
The finished bear is approx 25cm tall and the legs are shaped and positioned so that it can be independently seated.

The bear can be crocheted using any of the stitch methods such as Yarn Under hook (YUH), Yarn Over hook (YOH) or the combination Yarn Under the Yarn Over. Any of these methods will allow you to complete the project sucessfuly but each will give a slightly different texture to the stitches and the tightness of the work will vary.
