The Nostalgia Keyhole Scarf is knit flat with a simple garter and rib stitch, with the vintage-style keyhole detail adding functionality and flair. My great grandmother used to knit her five kids’ scarves with this handy little detail worked in to make sure they didn’t lose them while running outside!

YARN REQUIREMENT

170 m 185 yds of 4-ply weight yarn to be held double; 23% silk, 77% alpaca; 560 m / 100 g.

For the pictured sample, I used Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk in colourway Curry. Recommended substitutes: Sandnes Garn Silk Mohair or Debbie Bliss Angel.

GAUGE

Unblocked swatch of 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 in in garter and rib stitch pattern = 20 sts x 28 rows.

NEEDLES

Single point needles in size 4 mm US 6. Needle size is a suggestion: you may wish to use a slightly different size in order to meet the gauge.

Basic knitting techniques: cast on, bind off, knit and purl
