Not your granny's jacket
This granny square jacket is constructed by making a set amount of squares and sewing them together to make the main body and sleeves portion of the garment. A ribbed hem is then added along the bottom edge, and ribbed button bands either side of the main opening along the centre front. Lastly, a ribbed folded collar is added around the neckline. There are options for two different sleeve widths and also for either crochet or knitted rib (this is purely aesthetic and does not impact the sizing of the garment).
There is intended to be 12 inches of positive ease. For busts smaller than 36 there will be more positive ease. For busts larger than 52 inches there will be less positive ease. This may seem like a lot, but the intention for the garment is to be more of a jacket than a cardigan. Depending on how oversized you want the finished garment, you can choose a different size to what is recommended for you.
Sizes: A (B) C (D) E (F) G (H) I (J)

Yarn: This pattern requires a DK weight yarn. Please note that different fibres will react differently when wet blocking, washing and also over time. The samples shown in the photos of this pattern use different fibres, so please feel free to experiment with whatever yarn you like as long as you hit gauge!
Yarn amount requirements will also vary depending on the sleeve width and ribbing you decide to make. Please note if you are unsure on how much to buy it is often best to have a little extra to ensure you do not have to buy yarn from different dye lots.
One sample was crocheted using DK acrylic scraps, while the other was one strand of Drops Alpaca held with one strand Drops Kid Silk Mohair.
Yarn estimations: please refer to the screenshotted chart in the listed photos to see yarn estimations per size
