Oats & Clouds top overview:
The Oats & Clouds Tee is the perfect crochet T-shirt: lightweight, breathable, and opaque, making it a true wardrobe staple. Designed to fit like your favourite tee, it features thoughtful details such as shoulder shaping, armhole shaping, and set-in sleeves. Because of this tailored construction, the pattern leans towards the more advanced side. However, every step is carefully explained, allowing you to build new skills along the way and carry these techniques into future projects.
I named it Oats & Clouds because it combines two qualities I love in an everyday garment: comfort and lightness. Like a warm bowl of oats, it’s the kind of piece you’ll reach for again and again, while its airy fabric and effortless drape feel as light and breezy as a cloud.
Skill Level Option:
alternative to the set-in cap sleeve construction is included to bring the level from Easy-to-Intermediate to Easy.
Sizing:
The pattern comes in sizes XS(S,M,L, XL)(2XL,3XL,4XL,5XL)
You can check the sizing chart in pics for more details.
Yarn&Yardage:
Fingering weight yarn.
I used Selene by Filati Veneziani (50 g = 175 m, 70% Merino Wool - 20% Silk - 10% Linen, in shade Moonstone).
Yarn recommendation: I recommend not changing the yarn weight. Select yarn with similar yardage to get a tee with the same drape and coverage as in pictures. Yardage should be between 50 g = 160m to 200m. This is a light and breezy t-shirt. When picking your yarn, if you opt for acrylic, consider selecting a lighter yarn, i.e. higher yardage. If you select a 100% cotton or 100% bamboo, or blend of the two, the final make will tend to stretch. To keep it in good shape, do not hang it in your wardrobe but fold it and keep it in a drawer!
Yardage
530(560, 650, 740, 840)(910, 1010, 1120, 1230) m
Construction:
The Oats & Clouds tee is crocheted sideways in two panels, one for the front and one for the back. Each panel is shaped with short rows, at the top to create a shoulder slope, armhole shaping, and a neckline. The panels are then sewn together at the shoulders. The sleeves are worked directly into the body and are set-in cap sleeves for a perfect fit. The sides are then sewn together at the side.
