The finished octopus is about 3.5 inches tall, 7.5 with tentacles stretched full length.

Abbreviations:
mc – magic circle
sc- single crochet
inc- increase /2 single crochet in the same stitch
dec – decrease /crochet 2 stitches together.
sl- slip stitch
hdc- half double crochet
dc- double crochet
bl – back loop
X# - repeat the stitch that many times
fo: finish off

TIPS:
To start I prefer the Magic Circle but you can also ch2 and work the first stitches into the 2nd chain from your hook. Do which ever technique works best for you.
For decreases I like to use a technique called the invisible decrease. Slip your hook through the front loops of the next 2 stitches, yarn over, pull through the 2 front loops, yarn over and pull through remaining loops.
This pattern is worked in continuous rounds.
Everything is made in one piece. No sewing!
