Split Stitch Crochet is a technique used for the majority of this hat, where you put the hook between the “v” in the stitch below, creating a knit look. It’s hard to explain in words, but very easy after seeing someone do it, so I recommend watching a video!

MC (Gray): 300 yards
CC (Red): 200 yards

Because this is made to your specific measurements and not to preset sizes, I built in a large buffer with the yarn measurments. The largest hat I made was for someone with a 23” head but just in case I did add some additional buffer. If you have a smaller head you may not need as much. If you leave off the pom pom you definatly will not need as much red.
