Craving lace in your life? This pattern meets all your lace desires! This cardigan is worked from the top down, ensuring a great fit. The body of the work is really simple; it’s a basic top-down raglan with a relaxed fit, buttoning right at the natural waist ending in a deep ribbing. As you work, you will add garter ridges to the lower body. The garter ridges are the secret to picking up the lace panels without any seaming. Sleeves are worked in the round to whatever length you prefer, and finish with a matching ribbing.

After the work on the body is complete, you will go back and pick up the lace panels using the mohair/lace weight yarn. Each panel is worked in turned rows using basic lace stitches. Though the lace is simple, there is a lot of it. I estimate that the lace portion is equivalent to knitting 1 – 2 full length stoles (depending on your size). But don’t be daunted, it’ll be so worth it when it’s done!

As a side note, this is a really solid design if you want a basic layering cardigan! Simply leave out the garter ridges and lace and you’re all set.
