Do you also love the colour of the sea in summer — that shimmering, radiant blue? For the first time in years, we are in Portugal during the height of summer, and I wanted a knitting project that would truly put me in a holiday mood. So, I knitted a triangular shawl in sea blue, featuring a wave pattern. This shawl will always remind me of this summer.

I used beautiful yarn from dyer Nanette Mende (Filz und Strick). I was immediately captivated by both the warm, slightly lustrous colours and the material itself, which contains ramie. Ramie is a fiber plant that has been used for millennia; it resembles linen in both appearance and properties — being lint-free, dirt-repellent, antistatic, and breathable. It is just right for cool summer eve-nings, too…

Liebst du auch die Farbe des Meeres im Sommer – dieses glitzernde, leuchtende Blau? Zum ersten Mal seit Jahren sind wir im Hochsommer in Portugal und ich wollte ein Strick-Projekt, das mich so richtig in Ferienstimmung versetzt.
