Wanting a dual look for Oogie’s underground lair, designers created a jagged, heavy space with lots of torture devices when the regular set lights were on, and a more primitive, ghoulish look when there were black lights and ultraviolet paint. Oogie’s central table goes from a stone slab to a sinister roulette wheel with the flick of a switch—the perfect backdrop for the audience’s introduction to a scary, green Oogie Boogie and his terrifying casino-style chamber. Complete with evil slot machine robots, playing card soldiers, and snakes in the dice, Oogie is not above cheating to get what he wants and enjoys gambling with the lives of others.

Place your bets! Inspired by Oogie’s neon-colored lair and roulette wheel adorned with skulls, Oogie Boogie, hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades, this double-knit cowl is more cozy than menacing. Beginning with a provisional or temporary cast on, the cowl is worked flat back and forth in rows sideways. The cast on is removed and live stitches are grafted together to create a seamless loop with inverted colors on either side. Hope for a winning spin and cast on!
