Ooh Floof! Mitts
These mitts were designed from a desire to create something functional, insulating and eye-catching. The chevron pattern - which can be worked in everybody’s favourite colourway - along with the ‘floofy’ yarn, increases the insulating properties of the mitts by increasing the number of air pockets on the inside, making them extra cosy.
This pattern is aimed at knitters with some experience of the techniques mentioned below, but could potentially be worked by a confident beginner with basic knowledge of the techniques and access to good resources.
Construction
Worked in the round from the cuff up to the fingers, with a 2x2 rib cuff, a striped colourwork pattern and finished with 2x2 corrugated ribbing. There is a thumb gusset and the thumb is finished with 1x1 corrugated ribbing. The fabric is produced with two yarns, by knitting one yarn singly for one colour and by holding both yarns together for the marled contrasting colour.
There are written instructions for the cuff and corrugated rib and charts for the colourwork hand and thumb gusset.
