This brim of this sweet little hat is worked sideways to create ribbing. Post stitches on the body and the crown create the illusion that there are two colors on each row, when it’s actually just one color. Magic! The hat is worked flat and seamed up the back. Contrast-color whipstitching closes the top seam, and pompoms finish the piece with a flourish.

The larger hook is used for the brim, the smaller one for the crown.

You will also need a tapestry needle and either a 2” pompom maker or two 2” circles of cardboard.
