Opulence has a contemporary and comfortable silhouette with different motifs inspired by old sources. Elements from the traditional Romanian blouse, Guernsney knit and purls and fisherman sweater cables honor together a high quality yarn and a pair of skillful hands.

The sweater starts with two saddles for the shoulders in cable pattern and is worked top down. The right and left halves are worked separately up to the back join, then the sweater is worked back and forth in one piece to the front join. After putting the sleeves on hold, the body is worked seamlessly in the round to the end. The sleeves are worked in the round to the wrist band.

The neckband is slightly asymmetric and worked in four steps, finished with 3 needle bind of at the shoulders.

The textured patterns (cables, knits and purls) on the body are identical on the left front and back and on the right front and back respectively.

The pattern can be knitted in one, two or three colors, each with a specific vibe. Please adjust the yarn quantities accordingly.

Designer’s sample is worked in the following palette:
MC: Chalk - Shetland, 91 m/99,5 y per 50 g skein
CC1: Fawn - Shetland, 84 m/91,8 y per 50 g skein
CC2: Tundra - Jacob, 107 m/117 y per 50 g skein

Quantities:

MC: 980, (1150, 1350)/1071, (1260, 1476)y
CC1: 140m/153y
CC2: 80m /87y

Available in three sizes, suitable for the following bust circumference (body measurements):
Size 1 (S/M) for 86 to 96,5cm (34 to 38in)
Size 2 (L/XL) for 101 to 112cm (40-44in)
Size 3 (XXL-) for 116 to 126cm (46-50in).

Relaxed to oversized fit (recommended positive ease: 10 to 40cm / 4 to 10in). Pictured in size 2, for a 99cm/39in) bust circumference - positive ease 26cm/11in.

The sweater construction provides enough room for comfortable movement, if you hesitate between two sizes, most probably the smaller is better. Directions are provided for adjusting the lengths of the body and of the sleeves.

Directions are provided for two variants of sleeves - a more dramatic one, with a lot of volume in the lace section (the designer’s sample), and one fitted, more wearable (see testers’ pics).

This is an advanced pattern, with a combination of written and charted directions. An adventurous intermediate knitter may take the challenge, too. There are explanations for different techniques and links to video tutorials.

To avoid confusion and paper waste, please correctly identify the charts and the tables corresponding to your size before proceeding to work.

The pattern has 28 pages. A copy of the most complex charts is provided in separate folders per size. This will allow you a to zoom on the screen or to print them on bigger paper if you prefer.

Despite the hard work of a passionate team of testers and a professional tech editor, some minor errors could escape to our attention. I would be very grateful for your tolerance and gladly accept your feedback through direct mail.
