Mood and inspiration:
Quintessence is the fourth design of my series ‘By the Sea’. Cozy, easy to wear, simple with a twist and some unexpected details, perfect to knit and to wear during long winter nights. And days. Allying comfort, timeless elegance and interest.

Sizes available:
Available in nine sizes, from 80 to 162cm / 31,75 to 63,75in, based on claremountain table sizes (thank you, Clare, for generously sharing your very useful tables and so many clear informations!). Please see the schematics for more details about final dimensions.

Although all the calculations were double-checked, not all the sizes were yet test knitted. If you want to knit sizes 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 or 9 and would like to give me some feedback, please contact me at info@lamailleauxtableaux.com, I will offer you the pattern for free.

Silhouette and variations:
The pattern contains directions for three silhouettes (boxy, hourglass and reverse hourglass) and three collar variants (crewneck, mock turtleneck and a combination of both). The cable pattern is only charted.

Directions are provided for one main color and three contrast colors, but the garment can be worked also plain (in only one color) or with only one contrast color.

For a good fit, it is recommended to choose your size corresponding to the shoulders width and make bust accommodations (either combining different sizes and adjust the increase rate before the armhole, either make full bust adjustments with short rows).

The designer sample is pictured with 15cm/6in positive bust ease, reverse hourglass silhouette and the combination of crewneck and mock turtleneck collar in two colors.

Construction:
The sweater starts with two saddles in cable pattern and is worked top-down. The back and the front are worked flat, back and forth, from the stitches picked up along the saddles. The body is joined at the armhole level and worked in the round to the waistband, with lateral faux seams and optional color block intarsia.
After the body is worked, the stitches for the sleeves are put back on the knitting needles and worked in the round, top-down to the wristband, with an original cable pattern, reverse stockinette stitch and faux seams.
