This design is inspired by nature, with the central focus of this pattern drawing on the shape of the Prickly Pear, or Opuntia, of the cactus family. The border motif reflects additional patterns found in nature, including clouds and mountains. A tall ribbed edge and a slouchy fit makes this quick knit a great staple pattern for yourself or for gift knitting!

The Opuntia Hat is a stranded colorwork pattern that is knit in the round using circular needles. Knit with a mix of DK and Worsted weight yarn, this pattern encourages knitters to play with both color and texture, including mixing colorways, weights, and dyers.
