Orcas are fascinating creatures of the ocean that here find their home on these cozy mittens in black and white with a pop of blue. Using a stretchy cast on to start the cuff, the thumb is constructed by increasing on either side of a center seam.

Here, two colors were used for knitting then, then the individual single blue stitches were added with duplicate stitch; alternatively, the mittens can be knit working all three color at the same time by following the Duplicate Charts as the regular colorwork charts.

The gauge within the color work pattern is 10 stitches per inch and 12 rows per inch after blocking.

The background color includes Knit Picks Palette, Wheat Field, and the contrast colors include Knit Picks Palette, Asphalt Heather and Knit Picks Palette, Chicory. All are 100% wool fingering weight yarn.
